Setting Up Licensing
Before you can sell licenses for your beats, you need to connect a payment processor. Producer Dashboard uses Stripe Connect so you can accept payments directly into your own bank account.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”To get started with licensing, have the following ready:
- A Stripe account — if you do not have one, you can create one during the setup flow. Stripe is free to sign up for.
- Bank account details — Stripe needs your bank information to send you payouts. This includes your account number and routing number (or equivalent for your country).
- Business or individual details — Stripe will ask for basic identity verification. This is a legal requirement for processing payments.
Connecting Stripe
Section titled “Connecting Stripe”- Open Settings from the sidebar.
- Scroll to the Licensing & Payments section.
- Click Connect Stripe.
- You will be redirected to Stripe’s onboarding flow. Follow the steps to create or connect your Stripe account.
- Once complete, Stripe redirects you back to Producer Dashboard.
- You will see a green “Connected” status next to Stripe in your settings.
The entire process typically takes five to ten minutes, depending on how much verification Stripe requires for your region.
Platform fee
Section titled “Platform fee”Producer Dashboard charges a 2% platform fee on each sale. This is deducted automatically before the payout reaches your Stripe account.
For example, if you sell a beat license for $50:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Sale price | $50.00 |
| Stripe processing fee (~2.9% + $0.30) | ~$1.75 |
| PD platform fee (2%) | $1.00 |
| Your payout | ~$47.25 |
Stripe’s own processing fees are separate and vary by country. Check Stripe’s pricing page for exact rates in your region.
Payout schedule
Section titled “Payout schedule”Payouts follow Stripe’s standard schedule. For most countries, this means funds arrive in your bank account within 2-7 business days after a sale. You can check payout status and history directly in your Stripe dashboard.
Verifying your connection
Section titled “Verifying your connection”After connecting, you can verify everything is working:
- Go to Settings > Licensing & Payments.
- Confirm the status shows Connected.
- Your Stripe account email is displayed for reference.
- Click Open Stripe Dashboard to manage your Stripe settings directly.
Disconnecting Stripe
Section titled “Disconnecting Stripe”If you need to disconnect your Stripe account:
- Go to Settings > Licensing & Payments.
- Click Disconnect Stripe.
- Confirm the action.
Disconnecting removes your ability to accept new payments. Existing sales and payout history remain in your Stripe account. You can reconnect at any time.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Connection failed or timed out: Try again from Settings. If the issue persists, make sure you completed all verification steps in Stripe’s onboarding.
Stripe asking for additional documents: Some regions require additional identity verification. Complete these steps in your Stripe dashboard — Producer Dashboard cannot bypass Stripe’s compliance requirements.
Payouts not arriving: Check your Stripe dashboard for any holds or verification issues. Stripe may hold initial payouts for new accounts while they verify your identity.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”Once Stripe is connected, you are ready to start selling. The next step is to define the license types you want to offer.
