Creating License Types

License types are the foundation of your beat selling setup. Each license type defines what the buyer gets, what they can do with it, and how much it costs. You can create as many license types as you need.

A license type is a template that describes the terms of a sale. Common examples include:

  • Basic Lease — MP3 only, limited streams, non-exclusive
  • Premium Lease — WAV + MP3, higher stream limits, non-exclusive
  • Unlimited Lease — WAV + stems, unlimited streams, non-exclusive
  • Exclusive Rights — full ownership transfer, all files, one-time sale

You define these once, then assign them to individual tracks when you are ready to sell.

  1. Open Settings from the sidebar.
  2. Navigate to the License Types section.
  3. Click Add License Type.
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Name — a clear label buyers will see (e.g., “Premium Lease”)
    • Price — the default price for this license type
    • Description — a brief summary of what is included
    • Deliverables — which file formats the buyer receives (MP3, WAV, stems, project files)
    • Terms — usage rights such as stream limits, distribution rights, and credit requirements
  5. Click Save.

Your new license type is now available to assign to any track.

Deliverables define exactly which files a buyer receives after purchase. For each license type, toggle on the file types you want to include:

DeliverableDescription
MP3Standard compressed audio file
WAVUncompressed high-quality audio
StemsIndividual track stems for mixing
Project fileThe DAW project file (.als, .flp, .logicx, etc.)

Buyers only see the deliverables included in the license type they purchase. If a track does not have a particular file type available, that deliverable is skipped.

Terms tell the buyer what they are allowed to do with the beat. Common terms to specify:

  • Stream/play limit — maximum number of streams or plays allowed (e.g., 5,000 or unlimited)
  • Distribution rights — whether the buyer can distribute on streaming platforms
  • Credit requirement — whether the buyer must credit you as the producer
  • Exclusivity — whether the license is non-exclusive or exclusive
  • Commercial use — whether the beat can be used for commercial projects

Write your terms clearly. These appear on your public page and in the purchase confirmation.

  1. Go to Settings > License Types.
  2. Click on the license type you want to edit.
  3. Make your changes.
  4. Click Save.

Changes apply to future sales only. Existing purchases retain the terms that were active at the time of sale.

  1. Go to Settings > License Types.
  2. Click the delete icon next to the license type.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Deleting a license type removes it from future use. It does not affect tracks that already have this license type assigned — those tracks simply lose that pricing option until you assign a new one.

The order of your license types determines how they appear on your public page. Drag and drop license types in Settings to reorder them. Most producers order from cheapest to most expensive, making it easy for buyers to compare tiers.

  • Start with two or three license types. You can always add more later.
  • Name your license types clearly so buyers immediately understand the difference between tiers.
  • Price with clear gaps between tiers. If Basic is $30 and Premium is $35, buyers have little reason to choose Basic.
  • Include a description for each type. Buyers want to know exactly what they are paying for.
  • Review your terms periodically as your business grows and your needs change.
