Managing Sales

Once you start selling beats, Producer Dashboard keeps a complete record of every transaction. You can review your sales history, manage exclusive licenses, and keep track of buyer information all in one place.

Your sales history shows every completed transaction with:

  • Date of the sale
  • Track name that was purchased
  • License type (e.g., Basic Lease, Exclusive)
  • Buyer email for follow-up communication
  • Amount before and after fees
  • Payout status from Stripe

Access your sales from the dashboard or through the licensing section in Settings. Sales are listed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent at the top.

The key difference between these two types affects what happens after a sale:

  • The track remains on your public page after sale.
  • You can sell the same beat to as many buyers as you want.
  • Each buyer gets their own license with the terms they purchased.
  • This is the bread and butter of most beat-selling businesses.
  • Once sold exclusively, the track is automatically removed from your public page.
  • No further licenses can be sold for that track.
  • The buyer owns the exclusive rights to the beat under the agreed terms.
  • Existing non-exclusive licenses sold before the exclusive sale remain valid — those buyers keep their rights.

When an exclusive license is purchased, Producer Dashboard:

  1. Marks the track as exclusively sold.
  2. Removes it from your public page immediately.
  3. Disables further license sales for that track.
  4. Records the exclusive sale in your history with a clear “Exclusive” label.

If you sold non-exclusive leases before an exclusive sale, those leases are still valid. The non-exclusive buyers retain their rights under the terms they agreed to. This is standard in the beat-selling industry.

The exclusive buyer should be aware that prior non-exclusive licenses exist. Many producers include this information in their license terms.

Each sale records the buyer’s email address. You can use this to:

  • Send updated files or additional deliverables
  • Clarify license terms
  • Notify buyers of new releases
  • Build long-term relationships

To find a buyer’s email, open the sale record from your sales history.

The dashboard gives you a high-level view of your licensing revenue:

  • Total sales this month
  • Total revenue (before and after fees)
  • Best-selling tracks
  • Revenue trends over time

For detailed financial reporting, click through to your Stripe dashboard where you can see full transaction details, payout history, and tax documents.

Refunds are handled through Stripe. If a buyer requests a refund:

  1. Open your Stripe dashboard.
  2. Find the transaction.
  3. Process the refund through Stripe.

Producer Dashboard’s platform fee is also refunded when you issue a refund through Stripe.

  • Keep an eye on which tracks sell best. This tells you what your audience wants.
  • Consider raising prices on your most popular beats.
  • Respond to buyer inquiries quickly. The beat-selling market is competitive and responsiveness matters.
  • Use exclusive sales strategically. If a beat is generating steady lease income, a low exclusive price might not be worth it.
  • Review your sales regularly to spot trends and adjust your catalog accordingly.
