PRO / IPI Info
If you are a songwriter or composer, you likely belong to a performing rights organization (PRO) that collects royalties on your behalf. Producer Dashboard lets you store your PRO affiliation and IPI number so they are automatically included in split sheet exports.
What is a PRO?
Section titled “What is a PRO?”A performing rights organization collects and distributes performance royalties to songwriters, composers, and publishers. When your music is played on radio, TV, streaming services, or in public venues, your PRO collects the royalties and pays you.
Supported PROs
Section titled “Supported PROs”Producer Dashboard supports all major performing rights organizations worldwide:
| PRO | Region |
|---|---|
| BMI | United States |
| ASCAP | United States |
| SESAC | United States |
| PRS for Music | United Kingdom |
| APRA AMCOS | Australia / New Zealand |
| SOCAN | Canada |
| GEMA | Germany |
| SACEM | France |
| JASRAC | Japan |
| Other | Any PRO not listed above |
If your PRO is not in the list, select Other and enter the name manually.
Setting your PRO
Section titled “Setting your PRO”- Open Settings from the sidebar.
- Navigate to the PRO / IPI section.
- Select your PRO from the dropdown.
- Click Save.
What is an IPI number?
Section titled “What is an IPI number?”An IPI (Interested Parties Information) number is a unique international identifier assigned to songwriters and publishers. It was previously known as a CAE number. Both terms refer to the same thing.
Your IPI number is used to:
- Identify you uniquely across all PROs worldwide
- Register your works with your PRO
- Ensure royalties are paid to the correct person
- Appear on split sheets and rights documentation
Finding your IPI number
Section titled “Finding your IPI number”Your IPI number is assigned when you register with a PRO. You can find it:
- In your PRO’s online portal or member dashboard
- On your original membership confirmation
- By contacting your PRO’s member services
- On any previously registered works
IPI numbers are typically 9 to 11 digits long.
Entering your IPI number
Section titled “Entering your IPI number”- Go to Settings > PRO / IPI.
- Enter your IPI number in the IPI/CAE Number field.
- Click Save.
Your IPI number is now stored and will be included automatically whenever you appear on a split sheet export.
How this is used
Section titled “How this is used”Your PRO and IPI information appears in:
| Context | Where it shows |
|---|---|
| Split sheet exports (PDF) | Your name with PRO affiliation and IPI number |
| Split sheet exports (CSV) | IPI number column |
| PRO format presets | Pre-filled in the correct field for that PRO |
This means you set it once in Settings and never have to enter it again when exporting.
If you do not have an IPI number
Section titled “If you do not have an IPI number”If you have not registered with a PRO yet, you can leave this field blank. Your split sheets will still export correctly, just without the IPI number.
When you do register and receive your IPI number, come back to Settings and add it. Future exports will include it automatically.
- Register with a PRO early in your career. Royalties you miss before registration may be lost forever.
- Double-check your IPI number for accuracy. One wrong digit means royalties could be misrouted.
- If you are a member of multiple PROs in different territories, enter your primary IPI number here. It is the same number across all PROs.
- Ask your collaborators for their IPI numbers too. Complete split sheets with all IPI numbers make PRO registration much smoother.
