Exporting Split Sheets
When it is time to register your songs with a performing rights organization or share ownership details with collaborators, Producer Dashboard can generate split sheets in the right format.
What is a split sheet?
Section titled “What is a split sheet?”A split sheet is a document that outlines who owns what percentage of a song. It includes:
- Song title
- All collaborators involved
- Each person’s role (producer, songwriter, vocalist, etc.)
- Master split percentages
- Publishing split percentages
- IPI/CAE numbers for PRO registration
- Contact information
Split sheets are essential for registering works with your PRO and for keeping clear records of ownership agreements.
Exporting a split sheet
Section titled “Exporting a split sheet”- Select one or more tracks in the tracks grid.
- Open the Export menu from the toolbar or right-click context menu.
- Choose Export Split Sheet.
- Select your preferred format:
- PDF — formatted document suitable for sharing and signing
- CSV — spreadsheet format for your own records or bulk PRO submissions
- If exporting for a specific PRO, choose the preset (see below).
- Click Export.
The file downloads to your computer immediately.
PRO format presets
Section titled “PRO format presets”Producer Dashboard includes presets formatted for major performing rights organizations:
| Organization | Region | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| BMI | United States | BMI works registration fields |
| ASCAP | United States | ASCAP works registration fields |
| SESAC | United States | SESAC submission fields |
| PRS | United Kingdom | PRS works notification fields |
Each preset structures the export to match what that PRO expects when you register a new work. This saves you from manually re-entering all the information on the PRO’s website.
What is included in the export
Section titled “What is included in the export”Every split sheet export contains:
- Song name from the track group
- Collaborator names and contact details
- Roles — composer, lyricist, arranger, producer, or other
- Master split percentages
- Publishing split percentages
- IPI/CAE numbers if set on the collaborator profile
- ISRC code if assigned to the track
- ISWC code if assigned to the track
If any of these fields are not filled in, they appear as blank in the export. It is a good idea to ensure all collaborator details are complete before exporting.
Bulk exporting
Section titled “Bulk exporting”You can select multiple tracks and export all their split sheets at once. The export includes a separate split sheet section for each track. This is useful when registering an entire EP or album with your PRO.
For CSV exports, each track is a separate row (or group of rows for multi-collaborator tracks). For PDF exports, each track gets its own page.
Reviewing before export
Section titled “Reviewing before export”Before exporting, double-check:
- All collaborators are added to the track
- Roles are set correctly for each person
- Split percentages total 100% for both master and publishing
- IPI numbers are entered for anyone who has one
- Contact details are up to date
Catching errors before export saves time on corrections later.
- Export split sheets early in the process, even before final release. Having documented ownership from the start prevents disputes later.
- Keep both PDF and CSV copies. PDFs are good for sharing with collaborators for review. CSVs are useful for bulk submissions.
- If collaborators need to sign off on splits, export the PDF and share it for signatures before registering with your PRO.
- Update split sheets whenever ownership percentages change. Old versions should be archived, not deleted.
