Supported File Formats

Producer Dashboard supports a range of file formats for audio, DAW project files, and images. Here is the complete list of what you can import and work with.

These are the audio file formats you can import into Producer Dashboard. Imported audio files are used for playback, sharing, waveform display, and audio analysis (BPM, key detection).

FormatExtensionNotes
WAV.wavUncompressed audio. Highest quality. Recommended for masters and bounces.
MP3.mp3Compressed audio. Good for sharing and previews.
FLAC.flacLossless compressed audio. Same quality as WAV with smaller file size.
AIFF.aiff, .aifUncompressed audio. Common on macOS and in Logic Pro.
M4A.m4aAAC compressed audio. Common output from Apple devices.
OGG.oggOpen-source compressed audio format.
  • For masters and bounces: WAV or AIFF for maximum quality
  • For sharing previews: MP3 for smaller file sizes
  • For archiving: FLAC for lossless compression

Producer Dashboard works with whatever you give it. There is no requirement to use a specific format.

Producer Dashboard recognises DAW project files and links them to your track groups. Project files are not opened or played — they are tracked as metadata so you know which songs have associated project files.

DAWExtensionDescription
Ableton Live.alsAbleton Live Set
Logic Pro.logicxLogic Pro project bundle
FL Studio.flpFL Studio project
Pro Tools.ptxPro Tools session
Cubase.cprCubase project

When you import tracks, Producer Dashboard automatically detects project files and associates them with the matching track group based on song name.

  1. You import a folder containing audio files and project files.
  2. Producer Dashboard identifies audio files and creates track groups.
  3. Project files are matched to track groups by extracting the song name from the file name.
  4. Matched project files are linked to the track group as metadata (has_project_file, project_file_path, etc.).

If a project file cannot be matched to a track group by name, it is noted but not orphaned — you can manually associate it later.

Images are used for album artwork, avatars, and background headers. Supported formats:

FormatExtensionUse case
PNG.pngBest for graphics, logos, and artwork with transparency
JPEG.jpg, .jpegBest for photographs and complex images
WebP.webpModern format with good compression. Works for both photos and graphics.
ContextRecommended size
Album artwork1500x1500 pixels (minimum 500x500)
Avatar / profile photo256x256 pixels minimum
Header background1920x400 pixels minimum

Larger images are fine — Producer Dashboard resizes them as needed. Smaller images may appear blurry when displayed at larger sizes.

Stems are individual audio tracks (drums, bass, vocals, etc.) that together make up a full mix. Producer Dashboard supports stems in any of the supported audio formats listed above.

Stems are typically organised in a subfolder within a track’s folder. When you import a track with stems, they are associated with the track group and available as deliverables for licensing.

There are no strict file size limits imposed by Producer Dashboard for local imports. Your available disk space and system memory are the practical limits.

For sharing via Dropbox, file size limits depend on your Dropbox plan:

  • Dropbox Basic (free): 2 GB per file
  • Dropbox Plus/Professional: 50 GB per file
  • Dropbox Business: 50 GB per file
  • Keep your master bounces in WAV or AIFF for the best quality in analysis and sharing.
  • If your DAW project file format is not listed, the audio bounces from your DAW are still fully supported.
  • Use consistent naming between your project files and audio bounces so Producer Dashboard can match them automatically.
  • For album artwork, square images look best across all display contexts.
