Playing & Previewing
Producer Dashboard includes a built-in audio player so you can preview any track without switching to another app. It sits at the bottom of the screen and is always ready when you need it.
Loading a track
Section titled “Loading a track”To listen to a track, click on it in the tracks grid. The waveform player loads at the bottom of the window, showing the audio waveform for that file.
If a song (track group) has multiple files — say a rough bounce and a final mix — you can choose which one to load by expanding the track group and clicking the specific file you want to hear.
The waveform player
Section titled “The waveform player”The player displays a visual waveform of the loaded track. This gives you a quick sense of the song’s structure at a glance — you can see where the loud sections are, where breakdowns happen, and how the energy flows.
The waveform is interactive. Click anywhere on it to jump to that point in the track. This makes it easy to skip ahead to a specific section without scrubbing through the whole thing.
Playback controls
Section titled “Playback controls”The player includes the standard controls you would expect:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Play | Start playback from the current position |
| Pause | Pause playback without losing your position |
| Seek | Click on the waveform or drag the playhead to jump to any point |
Playback starts from wherever the playhead is positioned. If you want to start from the beginning, click the left edge of the waveform or use the restart control.
Quick previewing workflow
Section titled “Quick previewing workflow”The player is designed for fast previewing as you work through your library. A typical workflow looks like this:
- Scroll through the tracks grid.
- Click a song to load it.
- Hit play to hear a few seconds.
- Click the next song to load that one instead.
- Repeat until you find what you are looking for.
Because the player loads instantly, you can move through dozens of tracks quickly without any waiting.
Waveform data
Section titled “Waveform data”When tracks are first imported, Producer Dashboard queues them for audio analysis. This analysis generates the waveform data that the player displays, along with BPM and key detection.
If a track has not been analysed yet, the player will still play the audio — you just will not see a detailed waveform until the analysis completes. Analysis runs in the background and does not block playback.
Player position
Section titled “Player position”The waveform player sits in a fixed bar at the bottom of the screen. It stays visible as you scroll through the grid, switch between views, or open side panels. This means you can keep listening while you work on other things like editing metadata or adding tags.
- Use the waveform to navigate. If you know you want to hear the drop or the outro, just click that part of the waveform visually. It is faster than scrubbing.
- Preview while organising. Load a track to remind yourself what it sounds like, then update its stage, tags, or bucket right from the grid while it plays.
- Check your mixes quickly. If a track group has multiple bounces, click through them one by one to compare versions.
