Share Settings
Every share link comes with settings you can adjust before or after creating it. These give you control over what recipients can do with your music and how long they have access.
Available settings
Section titled “Available settings”When you create a share link, you can configure three things:
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Allow downloads | Off | Whether recipients can download the audio file |
| Expiry date | None | When the link stops working |
| Message | Empty | A note displayed on the share page |
You can set these at the time you create the link, or come back and change them later.
Allow downloads
Section titled “Allow downloads”By default, share links are listen-only. Recipients can play your track through the waveform player, but there is no download button.
Toggle Allow downloads on if you want recipients to be able to save a copy of the audio file to their device.
When to enable downloads:
- A vocalist needs the instrumental to record over
- A mix engineer needs the stems or bounce to work with
- A client has approved the track and needs the final file
- You are sending a beat pack where the buyer should get the files
When to keep downloads off:
- You are sending a demo for approval and do not want the file out in the wild yet
- You are sharing with an A&R or label rep for listening purposes only
- The track is not finished and you do not want a work-in-progress floating around
Expiry date
Section titled “Expiry date”Set a date when the share link automatically stops working. After that date, anyone who clicks the link sees a message that the share has expired.
This is useful for:
- Time-sensitive demos — send a beat to a rapper and give them a week to decide
- Exclusive previews — share an unreleased track for a limited window
- Client review cycles — keep the link active only during the feedback period
To set an expiry:
- Open the share settings for your link.
- Click Set expiry date.
- Choose a date from the date picker.
- Save.
To remove an expiry, open the settings and clear the date field. The link goes back to being permanent.
Message
Section titled “Message”Add a personal note that appears at the top of the share page. Your recipient sees it before they hit play.
Good messages give context:
- “Updated mix — the bass is pulled back 2dB as you requested.”
- “Here are five beats for the EP. Let me know your top three.”
- “Rough idea, just want your gut reaction before I polish it.”
The message field supports plain text. Keep it short and direct — this is not the place for an essay.
Changing settings after sharing
Section titled “Changing settings after sharing”You do not need to create a new link to change settings. The original URL stays the same.
- Open the sharing widget in the activity panel.
- Find the share link you want to update.
- Click it to open its settings.
- Make your changes.
- Save.
Changes take effect immediately. If you enable downloads on an existing link, the download button appears for anyone who opens it from that point forward.
Settings for playlist shares
Section titled “Settings for playlist shares”Playlist share links have the same three settings. The download toggle applies to all tracks in the playlist — you cannot enable downloads for some tracks and disable it for others within the same playlist share.
If you need different download settings per track, create separate single-track share links instead.
- If you are not sure about downloads, leave them off. You can always enable them later without creating a new link.
- Expiry dates are based on calendar dates, not hours. A link set to expire on March 15 stops working at the end of that day.
- You can combine all three settings. A share link with downloads enabled, a two-week expiry, and a message is a common setup for client review rounds.
- Deleting a share link is instant and permanent. If you just want to temporarily restrict access, use an expiry date instead.
