Files Widget

The files widget gives you a full view of every file attached to the selected track group. Bounces, stems, project files, rough demos — they all live here, organised and accessible without leaving the tracks page.

When a song accumulates multiple versions, stems from collaborators, and project files across different DAWs, this widget keeps everything in one place.

The files widget lists all files belonging to the selected track group. Each entry shows:

  • File name — the name of the file as imported or renamed
  • File type — an icon or label indicating the category (audio bounce, stem, project file, etc.)
  • File size — how large the file is on disk
  • Date added — when the file was imported or attached

Files are grouped by type so you can quickly distinguish bounces from stems from project files.

Producer Dashboard recognises several categories of files within a track group:

TypeDescriptionCommon Extensions
BounceThe main audio mixdown.wav, .mp3, .aiff, .flac
StemIndividual track exports.wav, .aiff
Project fileDAW session files.als, .logicx, .flp, .ptx
OtherAny other associated filesvaries

The file type is determined by the file extension and, where possible, by metadata from your DAW project structure.

You can add new files to a track group directly from the widget.

  1. In the files widget, click the Add files button at the top.
  2. Your system file picker opens.
  3. Select one or more files and confirm.
  4. The files upload and appear in the widget list immediately.

You can also drag and drop files from your desktop or file manager onto the widget area.

Added files are associated with the selected track group and go through the same processing as imported tracks. If you add an audio file, background analysis runs automatically to detect BPM and key.

Audio files in the list are playable. Click a file name or the play icon to load it into the waveform player. Playback starts immediately, letting you quickly switch between different bounces or stems without navigating away.

The currently playing file is highlighted in the list so you can see which version you are listening to. If a track group has multiple audio files (a rough mix, a final mix, and a mastered version, for example), you can flip between them to compare.

If a file has an unclear or auto-generated name, you can rename it for clarity:

  1. Hover over the file entry in the list.
  2. Click the rename icon or double-click the file name.
  3. Type the new name and press Enter.
  4. The display name updates everywhere it appears.

Renaming changes the display name within Producer Dashboard only. It does not rename the original file on disk.

To remove a file from a track group:

  1. Hover over the file in the list.
  2. Click the delete icon (trash).
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Deleting removes the file’s association with the track group. This action cannot be undone from within the app, so confirm before proceeding.

Project files (.als, .logicx, .flp, etc.) are displayed in the widget for reference. They show the file name, extension, and date added.

Project files help you keep track of which DAW sessions belong to which songs. This is especially useful when you work across multiple DAWs or receive sessions from collaborators in different formats.

You cannot play project files in the waveform player, but having them listed here makes it easy to locate the right session when you need to open your DAW.

The Overview Widget shows a file count for the selected track. This number reflects the total files listed in the files widget. If it shows zero, the track has no associated files and may need a fresh import.

A low file count can also indicate that the original source files were moved or deleted since import. Check the files widget for details.

The files widget is a single-track widget. When multiple tracks are selected, it indicates the number of selected tracks and prompts you to narrow your selection to one track to browse files.

Each track group has its own independent file list. Files are not shared between track groups.

  • Check the files widget after import. Verify that all bounces and project files were picked up correctly and grouped under the right song.
  • Use the player to compare versions. Click between different bounces to A/B your mixes directly from the widget. This is faster than switching between files in your DAW.
  • Keep your bounces well named. If you have multiple versions (rough mix, final mix, master), clear naming helps you tell them apart at a glance.
  • Look for missing files. If a track shows zero files, the original source may have been moved or deleted since import.
  • Add project files for reference. Even if you do not need to open them from the app, having project file names visible helps you locate the DAW session quickly.
