Comments Widget

The comments widget in the activity panel shows every comment attached to the selected track. It is your central hub for feedback, notes, and discussion about a song — all visible without leaving the tracks page.

Whether you left yourself a mixing note at 2am or a collaborator flagged a timing issue, everything surfaces here.

Select a track in the grid and open the activity panel. The comments widget displays all comments in chronological order, newest at the top. Each comment shows:

  • Author name — who wrote the comment
  • Comment text — the full message
  • Timestamp badge — if the comment is linked to a specific point or range in the audio, a clickable badge shows the timecode
  • Date — when the comment was posted

Scroll through the list to see the full history of notes on the track.

Important comments can be pinned to the top of the widget so they do not get buried under newer entries. Pinned comments always appear first, above the chronological list.

You will see pinned comments used for things like:

  • Final mix notes from the producer
  • Client feedback that must be addressed before delivery
  • Key creative direction that the team should keep in mind

To pin or unpin a comment, hover over it and click the pin icon. Pinned comments show a subtle pin indicator so you can tell them apart from regular comments.

If a comment includes a timestamp (because it was placed on the waveform at a specific moment), clicking the timecode badge jumps the audio player to that exact position.

This makes the comments widget a natural companion to the waveform player. Read a note like “the kick is clashing with the bass here,” click the badge, and you are listening to exactly that moment.

For range comments (covering a section of audio), clicking the badge jumps to the start of the highlighted range.

At the bottom of the comments widget, you will find a text input field.

  1. Type your comment in the field.
  2. Press Enter or click the send button.
  3. Your comment appears at the top of the list immediately.

This adds a general text comment — one that is attached to the track as a whole rather than a specific moment in the audio.

To add timestamped or range comments, use the waveform player’s comment mode instead. Those comments will still show up in this widget alongside your general notes. See Adding Comments for the full details on each comment type.

If a track has a lot of comments, you can filter them to find what you need:

  • All — shows every comment, no filter applied
  • Pinned — shows only pinned comments
  • Timestamped — shows only comments linked to a specific moment or range in the audio
  • General — shows only text comments with no timestamp

Use the filter toggles at the top of the widget to switch between views. The active filter is highlighted so you always know what you are looking at.

Hover over any comment you authored to reveal action buttons:

  • Edit — opens the comment text for editing. Make your changes and press Enter to save.
  • Delete — removes the comment. A confirmation prompt appears to prevent accidental deletion.

You can only edit or delete your own comments. Comments left by collaborators via share links are read-only from your side.

The comments widget is a single-track widget. If you select multiple tracks in the grid, the widget displays a message indicating how many tracks are selected and suggests narrowing to one track to view comments.

Comments are always tied to a specific track group — there is no concept of a comment spanning multiple songs.

  • Pin the most important feedback. If a collaborator sends detailed mix notes, pin that comment so it stays visible at the top while you work through revisions.
  • Use timestamps for mix feedback. Saying “the snare at 1:32 needs more punch” is far more useful when the reader can click and jump straight there.
  • Check comments before sharing. If you plan to share a track, review the comments first. Notes meant for your eyes only might not be suitable for a client-facing share page.
  • Filter to timestamped comments during mixing. When you are working through a revision pass, filtering to timestamped comments gives you an ordered checklist tied to the waveform.
