Collaborators Widget
The collaborators widget tracks everyone involved in a song. Producers, vocalists, mixers, songwriters — add them here with their roles and split percentages so you always know who is owed what.
Music production rarely happens in isolation. This widget makes sure credit and compensation details are attached directly to the track where they belong, not buried in a spreadsheet or a text thread.
Viewing Collaborators
Section titled “Viewing Collaborators”Select a track in the grid and open the activity panel. The collaborators widget lists everyone attached to the track. Each entry shows:
- Name — the collaborator’s display name
- Role — their contribution (Producer, Vocalist, Mixer, Songwriter, etc.)
- Split percentage — their ownership share, displayed as a percentage
The percentages are shown visually so you can see at a glance how the split breaks down. If no collaborators have been added yet, the widget shows an empty state with a prompt to add your first one.
Adding a Collaborator
Section titled “Adding a Collaborator”- Click the Add collaborator button in the widget.
- Start typing a name. If the person is already in your collaborators list, they appear as a suggestion.
- Select an existing collaborator or type a new name to create one on the fly.
- Choose a role from the dropdown (Producer, Writer, Vocalist, Engineer, or a custom role).
- Set their split percentage.
- The collaborator is added immediately and saves in the background.
You can add multiple collaborators in a row. Selecting from existing collaborators keeps your data consistent across your library — same name, same email, same identity on every track they appear on.
Editing Roles and Splits
Section titled “Editing Roles and Splits”To change a collaborator’s role or split:
- Click on the role to open the role dropdown and select a different one.
- Click on the percentage to edit the split value. Type a new number and press Enter or click away.
Changes save instantly. There is no separate edit mode. You might update a role when someone’s contribution changes (for example, from “Beat Maker” to “Producer” after they added arrangement) or adjust splits during negotiations.
Removing a Collaborator
Section titled “Removing a Collaborator”Hover over a collaborator entry and click the remove button. The person is detached from the track. This does not delete the collaborator from your overall contacts — they remain available as a suggestion for future tracks.
Roles describe what a collaborator contributed to the track. Common roles include:
| Role | Typical Contribution |
|---|---|
| Producer | Beat making, arrangement, sound design |
| Vocalist | Singing, rapping, vocal performance |
| Songwriter | Lyrics, melody, composition |
| Mixer | Mixing the final audio |
| Master Engineer | Mastering the final audio |
| Instrumentalist | Playing a specific instrument |
| Featuring Artist | Guest performance |
You can type any role that fits your workflow. These are not restricted to a predefined list — if “Foley Artist” or “Sample Curator” makes sense for your project, use it.
Split Percentages
Section titled “Split Percentages”Splits define how earnings or rights are divided among collaborators. The widget shows each collaborator’s percentage and a running total via a summary bar at the bottom.
| Total | Indicator |
|---|---|
| Exactly 100% | Green — fully allocated |
| Under 100% | Neutral — remaining unallocated |
| Over 100% | Warning — splits exceed 100% |
The splits do not need to total 100% at any given moment. Some producers leave splits incomplete until all parties are confirmed. But the warning helps you catch mistakes before exporting formal documents.
Multi-Select Behaviour
Section titled “Multi-Select Behaviour”The collaborators widget is a single-track widget. When multiple tracks are selected, the widget shows how many tracks are selected and prompts you to narrow to one.
Each track group has its own independent collaborator list. If the same collaborator appears on multiple tracks, they are managed separately on each one (though their profile data is shared for consistency).
Exporting Splits
Section titled “Exporting Splits”Once your collaborators and splits are set, you can export the information as a split sheet using the Export Widget. This generates a formatted document suitable for submission to PROs (performing rights organisations) like BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, or PRS.
- Add collaborators as you work. It is easier to remember who did what while the session is fresh. Coming back weeks later to figure out credits is a common pain point.
- Use consistent names. If a collaborator goes by different names across tracks, the export data will treat them as separate people. Pick one name and stick with it.
- Check splits before exporting. The export widget and split sheet generator pull directly from the collaborator data. Make sure the percentages add up correctly before generating documents.
- Set splits early, even if approximate. A rough split agreement now is better than no agreement later. You can always adjust before export.
